10) (11/03/06) IMPORTANT NOTICE !!!!!!!  WE HAVE TO UNFORTUNATELY LET
EVERYBODY KNOW THAT THE NCCYC HAS LOST ONE OF OUR BELOVED.  JOHN
LEPAGE PASSED ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.  LIKE A TRUE MEMBER OF THE NCCYC
THE LAST THING THAT JOHN DID IN HIS LIFE WAS TO OFFICIATE A SOCCER
GAME.  THOSE THAT DID NOT KNOW JOHN, WILL BEST UNDERSTAND HIM BY
THE FOLLOWING WORDS BY JIM LILLY.

"We lose a tremendous voice as a child advocate, as a constitutional parliamentarian, a friend,
and as an adult volunteer for these children's activities.  As we all have known, or known of
John LePage, his loss comes as a surprise to each one of us.  John was a positive force in the
recent re-organization involving the merger of Metro North, and Florissant CYC.  His spirit,
and attitude, as well as all his wonderful attributes will be missed.  This children's program has
surely lost a good friend to this program"

Funeral plans are as follows, John will be laid out on Sunday Nov 5th at Hutchens Mortuary,
675 Graham Road.  Visitation will be from 3 to 9PM.  The funeral will be on Monday the 6th
starting at 10am at the funeral parlor, proceeding to St Rose and then finishing up with a
military funeral.  Best wishes and prayers should be done for his wife Rocky and his family.
Not just the NCCYC but humanity, has lost a true friend, and he will be dearly missed.
12) (04/11/07)  The 2007 umpire training sessions will be held on Saturday April 14th
from 10 AM to 3 PM and Sunday April 15th from 1 PM to 5 PM.  The sessions will be
held at North American Martyrs.  Any person interested in umpiring needs to attend
these sessions.
13 ) North County CYC Awards Scholarships to Eight Local Eighth Grade Students

Hazelwood, MO (April 21, 2008) – The North County CYC Executive Board will be awarding scholarships to eight
local area eighth grade students on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 7 pm at St. Ferdinand School on Charbonier Road
in Florissant.  The scholarships will be in the amount of $500 each and will go to those students who best
demonstrate the true spirit of Christian sportsmanship during CYC athletics.  The prestigious award winners were
chosen among dozens of qualified applicants and were narrowed down to the few deserving recipients by the
voting members of the North County CYC Executive Board.  Each student will have the choice of using the
scholarship to help pay for high school, or to defer the payment until college.

This year the John LePage Scholarships will be awarded to the following students:

Thomas Jedding of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne
   Aaron Jezik of St. Sabina
Michael Kremer of St. Angela Merici
   Jack Mohrmann of St. Ferdinand
Grace Brandon of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
   Ellen Dieckmann of St. Ann
Allyson Hinrichs of St. Angela Merici
   Kim Meyer of Sacred Heart

“It was difficult to choose among all of the applications.  To see so many amazing young adults submitting such
strong applications and to know that we are going to help some of them realize their dreams was truly heart-
warming,” commented North County Assistant Vice Chairperson Al White.

The John LePage Scholarship Award was named for a long time member of the CYC board, who was involved in
North County CYC sports for over 30 years until his untimely death in 2006.  In addition to coaching and officiating,
John LePage served his parish as Parish Representative for many years.  Mr. LePage also served in a variety of
positions on the main board, including Chairperson.  He played a key role in the merger between Florissant CYC
and Metro North CYC that formed today's North County CYC.
